Marijuana Industry Comes to Aid of Wildfire Victims

Marijuana Industry Comes to Aid of Wildfire Victims

A cool thing is happening in the fire-ravaged section of Northern California. Well, as cool as things can get when the third worst fire in California history is burning down the neighborhood.

Thousands of area residents have been forced to evacuate their homes, leaving them with little or no access to essential daily items — including medical marijuana.

Marijuana Price Index August 2015

Marijuana Price Index: August 2015

The U.S. Marijuana Price Index held steady for the most part in August 2015. The overall price of marijuana went up a hearty $9, but still remains under the year-to-date average. The only grade that saw any real fluctuation was mid-grade, which is up $9 from the previous month.

Washington and Oregon hold the top two spots for cheapest weed in the country, clocking in at $168 and $180, respectively. Meanwhile Nevada gets the top spot this month for most expensive ganja in the U.S.

Pure Indicas and Sativas Don't Exist Anymore

Pure Indicas and Sativas Don't Exist Anymore

For a while now I have been wondering, are there any pure indicas or pure sativas left in the world, or California more specifically? Dispensaries, co-workers, and friends have all claimed to have a good indica to help with sleep, or perhaps pain. Or they claim to have a killer sativa to give you that cerebral high or head buzz that your looking for. However every time upon further inspection, these strains are found to be hybridized children, and whatever pure sativa or indica qualities they once possessed have been bred out to attain a more potent overall strain.

Oregon Is Hiring Pot Inspectors

Oregon is soon to have some new job openings. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) is putting out feelers in efforts to hire 11 Cannabis Compliance Officers before recreational sales begin October 1.

Medical marijuana dispensaries will begin to serve recreational users next month, and Oregon will begin to accept and review applications for strictly recreational businesses starting in early 2016.

Feds Give Weed Dispensaries a Tax Break on Merchandise Sales

Feds Give Weed Dispensaries a Tax Break on Merchandise Sales

If you want to support the cause of medical marijuana in the face of crushing and unjust taxation by the federal government, you have one easy option: “Buy more t-shirts,” said the nation’s leading dispensary tax attorney, San Francisco’s Henry Wykowski. “I’m not being facetious.”

This July, the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals gave the medical marijuana a billion-dollar piece of legal clarity.

Dispensaries still face crushing tax burdens for selling cannabis, but everything else they sell in the store – t-shirts, hats, bubblers, vaporizers, ash trays — is officially tax-deductible as a business expense.

No.1 Tennis Player Complains of Weed Smell During Semi-Finals

Although many in the sporting community are taking kindly to cannabis and the new laws that go with it, tennis star Novak Djokovic is not one of them. During his Rodgers Cup semi-final match with Jeremy Chandy, Djokovic made several comments to the umpire about the powerful odor of marijuana on the tennis court.

The No. 1-ranked tennis player in the world approached the umpire’s chair between the first and second sets and let loose with a barrage of anti-weed comments: “Someone is smoking weed, I can smell it, I’m getting dizzy. Somebody is getting high. Can you smell it? The whole place smells of it.”
