When Oregon voters decided to legalize marijuana for all adults in 2014, activists and cannabis business owners were understandably elated. But one of the stipulations of Oregon’s Measure 91 was that counties and towns the ability to ban marijuana businesses if they so chose. And many jurisdictions decided to do just that.
Los Angles-based rapper and Instagram tease The Game is officially the most recent celebrity to invest in cannabusiness. The Game joins musicians like Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, and Wiz Khalifa in embracing this multi-billion dollar industry by investing in a Santa Ana dispensary called The Reserve.
When asked about his new involvement with this dispensary, The Game said that he “finally has a platform to legally cultivate and sell a plant that saves lives and is changing our world in a positive way.” He went on to say, “I felt a responsibility to my family and the rest of the cannabis community to do this the right way,”
All grades of cannabis finished July well below their June averages. The overall U.S. marijuana price index experienced a huge drop, down $26 from last month’s average. The mid-grade price index, which has been on a rollercoaster ride for most of 2016, dropped a whopping $16. The schwag grade was not far behind, down a full $15 from its June average.
Tennessee takes top honors for the most expensive weed in the nation. On the flip side, Alaska and Maine with their $200 ounces had the cheapest reported ounce prices for the month of July.
