Fire OG Strain Review

Fire OG Strain Review

Name: Fire OG

Type: Hybrid (60% indica, 40% sativa)

Genetics: OG Kush x San Fernando OG

The Fire OG strain is no longer the hot name on the cannabis menus it once was--after all, it is not purple and no one raps about it. However, don't let your guard down on this indica-dominant hybrid, this strain combines sativa and indica genetics with the indica genetics slightly to the fore (60% indica, 40% sativa). This old-school strain (by old school, I mean mid 2000s) has two great parents, OG Kush and San Fernando Valley OG (SFV OG), and is regarded by many to be the most potent OG Kush strain on the planet, often reaching THC levels of 20%+. In its heyday it was not uncommon to pay $70+ for just 1/8 when grown to perfection.

With a name like Fire OG, this strain has some seriously high standards to live up to. Luckily, it makes the cut. The Fire OG strain is still a highly prized addition to my marijuana collection, and I almost always pick it up if the dispensary has it in stock. I don't need big names and a bunch of hoopla surrounding my cannabis experience, and that's why I like Fire OG. I've now procured it in many states, and the appearance might slightly change from place to place, but the high is always consistent, kind of like eating at McDonald's.

Looks and Smell

Seems like you will never see Fire OG grown the same way twice; every grower and grow room helps give a new light to this amazing strain. This particular batch of Fire OG has a very greasy, almost charcoal bouquet that drips with visible resin glands. The edgy calyxes (quintessential of most OG strains) are tightly glued together like an artichoke heart infused with sticky glue. Even before the bag is opened, an earthy pine aroma with hints of lemon cleaner and chlorine take over the room your in. There is no hiding this strain. Break the buds up and the smell becomes even more overpowering, and a woodsy, charcoal funk comes more to the forefront. It is not hard to see how the Fire OG strain got its name with the frost-covered nuggets and bright red/orange hairs giving off the appearance that the buds are on fire.

The Smoke

Prepare to become highly medicated for up to 3 hours when you blaze the Fire OG strain. This strain is not intended for new or low tolerance smokers and can cause severe couch-lock if not careful. For the average smoker, this strain will serve well as an afternoon or evening smoke session addition. The Fire OG strain burns with a pungent yet sweet smell that is somewhat reminiscent of top quality black hash. The taste comes as a bit of a surprise after experiencing the aroma, since it has strong lemon and pine notes. The effects consist of euphoria and a sense of tranquility, making the Fire OG strain another amazing strain for patients in need of a mental leg up. The strain works quickly and is perfect when you need an immediate fix.

5/5 Nugs

The powerful muscle relaxing and stress relieving effects from the Fire OG strain has made it a mainstay among patients and marijuana connoisseurs alike for nearly a decade. In very few varieties do you find such a harmonious balance of soothing tranquility and uplifting euphoria. Both indica and sativa lovers alike will appreciate the euphoric and relaxing nature of Fire OG. The initial wave of soothing euphoria is a perfect remedy for relieving stress, anxiety, chronic aches and pains, depression, nausea, and eating disorders, just to name a few. Fire OG is only available in clone form and is recommended for indoor grows or possibly a greenhouse setup, but is not recommended for beginning or novice growers. However, the respectable-sized yields and high THC content make all the effort worth it.

I don't care that this strain isn't mentioned in rap and R&B songs. I don't care that Fire OG has nowhere near the name recognition that a strain like "Cookies" has. What I love is the flavor, the effects, and the ease of obtaining this awsome strain in California (literally every dispensary in Nor-Cal carries it). Go get yourself some FIRE, you will not be disappointed.
