New iPhone App Lets Marijuana Users Know if They’re Too Stoned to Drive

The friendly folks at NORML want to make sure you’re safe to to drive before you sit behind the driver’s wheel with their new My Canary app.

While there’s currently no technology that gives an accurate read on cannabis impairment, My Canary comes close, as the app can test users’ balance, memory, and perception of time through a series of games that can determine your level of intoxication, the Business Insider reports.

Tests include repeating disappearing numbers, standing on one leg, hitting buttons in a “whack-a-mole” game, and then estimating a 20-second time period.

Cannabis legalization advocates NORML released the app to help users navigate the hazy traffic laws dealing with cannabis intoxication.

“My Canary is the first app to give consumers the scientific information they need to honestly and accurately evaluate their personal performance — privately, anytime, and anywhere,'” Allen St. Pierre, the executive director of NORML, told the Daily Mail.

My Canary is available now for $4.99 through the Apple App Store.
