According to a new report published in JAMA Pediatrics, more children are going to the emergency room in Colorado for accidental cannabis exposure since recreational sales began in the state in 2014. More reports are also being made to the poison control center for the same reason.
Of course opponents of legalization will latch onto this news as proof that legalization is horrible for “the children!” But to be fair we must examine all the factors at work here.
Last month the Food and Drug Administration approved a liquid form of dronabinol, which is a synthetic form of THC, the main psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana. It will be available for use for people with AIDS (to treat weight loss) and cancer (to alleviate the effects of chemotherapy), among other ailments.
All marijuana grades had a pretty exceptional month, with the exception of schwag. The mid-grade category saw immense growth up an impressive $33 from its previous month's average. Furthermore, this increase is the highest price mid-grade has fetched in the last 14 months.
Holy cow! Texas is selling $490 ounces of Blue Dream to take the top spot for most expensive pot in the country. And seemingly here every month, Oregon once again takes the prize for cheapest marijuana in the nation. Special shout out to our northern neighbors Canada for their Kosher Kush at a very respectable $180 per ounce. Kudos, Canada!
As most of you probably already know, the DNC is taking place right now in Philadelphia. Bernie supporters, who were sad (to say the least) that Mr. Sanders isn’t going to be up for election this year, marched down the street with a giant 51-foot inflatable joint in support of marijuana legalization. The best part? It was called a Jaywalk.
