With Justin Trudeau’s election came literal high hopes for our friends up north, as he promised to legalize marijuana in Canada. Yesterday, it was finally announced that Canada’s Health Minister will introduce a law next year to legalize marijuana use.

Jane Philpott, Canadian Health Minister, spoke to a special session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, yesterday of all days, and expressed that Canada’s new marijuana reform would not just be for medical, but also recreational use.

“Every commercial that depicts California shows people running on the beach with the dog and the drink in their hand and having a big bonfire at the end of the night—all of those activities are things you’d be arrested for if you lived in California,” Carolla said.
